One of the oldest Catholic Universities in the US, Georgetown overlooks the scenic Potomac River with the US capital in the background. Ranked one of the top 25 universities in the country, Georgetown has an acclaimed School of Foreign Service and excellent Faculty of Languages and Linguistics, and offers up to 191 majors. Some of the most popular majors include English, Finance, and Government. There is a high level of ethnic diversity in the college, with a 22% minority population and 7% international student body. Georgetown boasts 144 student organizations, including 14 honors societies and a myriad of political, theater, music, athletic and religious groups – but the college does not admit any official Greek organizations on campus. Sports is also a big thing at Georgetown, especially basketball; with 23 varsity athletic teams, the athletic program is listed as one of the top 20 Division I schools in the nation. Georgetown is definitely not a party school, for the university cracks down seriously on underage drinking; and due to its Catholic ties, the atmosphere leans slightly towards conservative.
