Georgia Tech is situated in Midtown Atlanta, with a campus divided into the Central Campus, East Campus, and West Campus, featuring a nice mix of historical architecture and brand new classrooms and administrative buildings. Georgia Tech is one of the nation’s biggest research spenders without a med school, sinking $525 million annually into science and technology studies. Education at Georgia Tech is divided into 5 schools, which offer a total of 127 majors. The bulk of students at Georgia Tech major in science and technology, the more popular majors including Management, Mechanical Engineering, and Industrial Engineering. U.S. News recently rated Georgia Tech’s industrial engineering program as the top program in the nation. More than 400 student organizations are active on campus, including DramaTech, Musician’s Network, and WREK, a student-run radio station. The Greek system is also a central part of life a Georgia Tech, with almost a third of students in fraternities or sororities. Football at the school is popular and successful – the team has won four national championships. Intramural options include the less-traditional billiards and innertube water polo. One of the most notable feature of the student body is the male-female ratio, which is a staggering 70-30. Georgia Tech is a heavyweight research institution that works hard to maintain its reputation, and at times this results in students feeling neglected by their professors. But if you are passionate about technology, science, and engineering, Georgia Tech is an extremely awarding college environment.
