Lehigh University is located at Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, surrounded by gothic buildings on the campus. Lehigh has three undergraduate colleges: The College of Arts and Science, the College of Business and Economics, and the College of Engineering and Applied Physical Sciences. Though there are 150 majors, about a third of the students at Lehigh major in engineering and applied sciences, and another third major in business – two of the strongest majors. There are 25 NCAA Division I varsity sports at Lehigh. The most popular sport – football – is celebrated annually at The Rivalry – the longest uninterrupted football rivalry between Lehigh and Lafayette. About 40 % of the student population participates in Greek life, with 21 fraternities and 9 sororities, so Friday nights gets pretty busy. In fact, Lehigh made Playboy’s List of Top 25 Party Schools in 2002. The school is not terribly diverse: 70 % of the population is white, and students from “outside the Northeast are few and far between”, according to a student. With a population of 71,000, Bethlehem is a relatively calm college town – but if you ever feel like a big fish in a small pond, New York and Philadelphia are within easy driving distance.
