Sitting atop a hill in Medford/Somerville, Massachusetts; Tufts University offers up to 70 undergraduate programs and thousands of courses. The school is especially renowned for its internationalism, with a very popular program in International Relations, strong study-abroad options, and a large international student population. Tufts students can cross-register for courses at a number of Boston area colleges, including Boston College, Boston University, and Brandeis University. Tufts students like to describe themselves as liberal, and there is plenty of diversity both ethnic and geographically, with 24% minority students and more than 77% out of state students. There are more than 150 student organizations, including a dozen a cappella groups. 13 % of undergrads participate in Greek life, and there are 16 fraternities and sororities to choose from. Tufts has 27 Division III teams and two Division I sports – squash and sailing. Some of the quirky traditions on campus include Pumpkining – a 75-year old ritual that results in the placement of pumpkins in bizarre locations around campus – and the famous Naked Quad Run.
