Average GPA: 3.7

Average SAT score: 2010 ~ 2270

Recognized as one of the top universities of the South, Vanderbilt consists of 4 schools: College of Arts and Science, School of Engineering, Blair School of Music, and Peabody College of Education and Human Development. Situated at the Music City, Nashville, Tennessee; Vanderbilt’s students are notorious for their preppy style and conservative views. However, the school is relatively diverse with 24% of minority students. Vanderbilt offers 222 majors, and is well known for its list of special academic opportunities, such as: The Honors Program, the Four Plus One Program, its Initiative for Scholarship and Global Engagement (student-exchange program), and many others. Even so, academic life and social life can be balanced out equally – Vanderbilt has 320 official student organizations, and Greek life is a prominent part of campus life. Vanderbilt also has a competitive sports program that competes in Division I in the SEC. The men’s football, baseball and basketball teams are among the nation’s top contenders. In recent years, Vanderbilt has tried to break its image as a “rich, Caucasian” school by making an effort to diversify its campus.
